Playa Mesa is looking for skilled, highly passionate and experienced Servers with strong interpersonal skills who understand and appreciate the importance of putting the guest first while working in a high-volume location. You must be organized, calm, friendly, and embrace a philosophy of enlightened hospitality to go above and beyond to make sure customers have exceptional experiences to help create regulars with every interaction. Open availability is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

Serve assigned tables or section, as determined by management.
Able to interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
Complete knowledge of restaurants’ food and beverage preparation, selling alcohol and food items.
Responsible service of alcohol; if consuming alcoholic beverages check identification of guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age.
Ring orders on a computer point of sale system; accept different types of payment and make change.
Clear and reset tables when applicable. Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Restaurant’s standards.

Maintain specific side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant.

Qualifications:

Must be 18 or over to serve alcohol; previous restaurant experience minimum of 2 plus years serving experience; able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Posse or obtain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) compliance through Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) and the California Food Handler’s permit.
Must be able to suggestively sell food and beverage items; ability to handle money and give correct change.
Strong attention to detail, good time management skills, and ability to multi-task for table service.
Customer focused, courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor while providing excellent customer service. Ability to effectively listen to and respond to customer needs; possess excellent communication skills.
Walks and stands during entire shift; ability to remain stationary for long periods of time; reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe. Ability to transport a service tray balanced with beverages, water and glassware, and plates of various sizes and shapes.
