Is menu planning your secret skill? Are you the one friends and family turn to when they want their next party to go off without a hitch? Join our team as our Catering Concierge! Our Concierge is responsible for working with catering customers to ensure their orders go smoothly, from figuring out how much food they need to ensuring it is delivered hot and on time, and all the logistics in between, communicating between the customer and our catering division. The ideal candidate excels at both verbal and written communication, is a whiz at timelines, and keeps detailed records. This position requires office work on the weekends, holidays, evenings and early mornings, and occasional onsite work at events, including delivery driving, as part of the catering service team. This is a part-time position which may (upon approval) be combined with a front- or back-of-house position in the restaurant to make a full-time equivalent. 
 
Duties include: 
 
  • Answering inquiries from customers by phone, email or in person in a timely and customer service-oriented manner that represents the values of Highway Inn. Professional, proper, and courteous phone skills are required, including transferring calls appropriately and keeping on-hold times for customers to a minimum. Verbal and written communication should be clear, concise, and error-free, using proper grammar and respectful language. 
  • Advising customers on the right food selections for their particular needs and ensuring customers are properly prepared for order delivery/pickup. 
  • Responding to customers with a positive, “can do” attitude, offering suggestions and solutions when we cannot meet a customer’s exact demands.
  • Taking the initiative to see where potential problems with orders, timelines or delivery logistics may lie and coming up with preventative measures or solutions. 
  • Accurately recording orders and delivery information, relaying details to the catering team, and following up with the customer at multiple touch points prior to event date.
  • Timely review and completion of accounts payable catering invoices, providing accurate and complete documentation and handling customer payment. 
  • Organizing equipment/materials storage areas and managing catering supply inventories.
  • Assisting the catering team with loading orders and unloading/returning equipment to storage.
  • Occasional delivery shifts, requiring the ability to drive, park and unload a compact cargo van. (Commercial driver’s license not required.)

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years customer service experience in restaurant, catering or event services; familiarity with Hawaiian food and “Hawai‘i local” dishes preferred
  • Food safety certification is a plus
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Conversational level or fluency in non-English languages a plus
  • Strong attendance record
  • Positive attitude
  • Team player who is able to multitask efficiently
  • Proactive in identifying and anticipating needs and concerns of customers, co-workers and managers
  • Able to sit continuously for long periods of time, utilize a computer and various office software programs
  • Must be able to life 20-25 pounds with or without assistance
  • Required to follow both oral and written instruction
  • Expected to communicate clearly and efficiently with co-workers and managers

Compensation: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
