Job Description: Food Runner

Job Summary
A food runner is responsible for delivering dishes from the kitchen to the correct tables in a restaurant. They work closely with the kitchen and waitstaff to ensure timely and accurate food service. Food runners also collaborate with the kitchen staff to confirm order accuracy and presentation. In addition to delivering meals, they may assist with various tasks such as refilling water glasses, clearing empty plates, and providing general support to the serving team. This role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dining environment. 
 

Responsibilities
  1. Food Delivery: Delivering dishes from the kitchen to the appropriate tables in a timely manner, ensuring that the food is presented well and matches the order.
  2. Communication: Coordinating with kitchen staff, servers, and sometimes management to ensure that the right dishes are prepared and delivered to the correct tables.
  3. Quality Control: Checking the presentation and quality of dishes before delivering them to guests. This may include verifying that special requests or dietary restrictions are accommodated.
  4. Timing: Ensuring that food is delivered promptly, coordinating with the kitchen to maintain proper timing so that all courses are served at the right temperature and in the correct order.
  5. Table Set-Up: Assisting with setting up and clearing tables, including refilling water glasses, providing condiments, and removing used dishes.
  6. Customer Service: Interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner. Responding to any additional requests or inquiries from diners.
  7. Cleanliness: Keeping work areas clean and organized. This may include clearing empty plates, wiping down tables, and maintaining a tidy workspace.
  8. Knowledge of Menu: Familiarity with the menu items to accurately describe dishes to guests and answer any questions they may have.
  9. Teamwork: Collaborating with other staff members, including servers, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.
  10. Adaptability: Being able to handle a fast-paced environment, adapt to changes, and efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Overall, the role of a food runner is essential in providing excellent customer service and contributing to the overall efficiency of the dining establishment.
