At Slice on Broadway, we don't have multiple job titles for our entry-level employees. Rather, all entry-level employees are Crew Associates. At Slice, Our Crew Associates provide excellent customer service, teamwork, and the highest standards for food preparation.  Crew Associates are required to play the role of salad/hoagie maker, oven manager, pizza maker, and other shop roles, as business needs require.  A Crew Associate is cross trained in all areas and may specialize in a certain area, on a certain day or shift, but is expected to pitch in and help wherever is necessary. 

General Crew Associate Duties and Functions:
  • Assist the kitchen in the preparation and service of menu items as needed according to the recipe, procedure, quality, and timeliness standards.
  • Stock and refill pizza line and sandwich coolers and maintain the cleanliness of each unit.
  • Follow food handling techniques and procedures that are compliant with local health department guidelines.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene in compliance with Company policy and health department guidelines.
  • Comply with Company’s dress code.
  • Follow safety policies and regulations, reporting injuries or any unsafe conditions and work practices to the Shop Manager.
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen according to cleaning schedules and procedures.
  • Remove all food from the serving lines and store food properly, if working at closing.
  • Empty trash containers when needed.
  • Perform other functions as necessary for the operation of the shop and/or as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements:  
  • Ability to work as part of a team by helping others as needed or requested.
  • Willingness to cross-train in all areas of the kitchen and line.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with oral and written instructions and communicate and exchange accurate information so that others will understand.
  • May be required to work additional hours depending upon the workload and staffing. 
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
  • Remain in a stationary position for substantial periods of time, move and traverse within the shop as necessary, position yourself to perform functions required by the position, observe details at close range, and transport/move products and goods weighing up to 50 pounds. 
Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions involve noise, heat, changes in temperature, odors, moisture, and other conditions common in a restaurant.

We are pleased to be able to offer eligible Crew Members health care benefits through UPMC Health Plan. The Company will pay 50% (fifty percent) of the Health Insurance Premium for qualified full-time management Crew Members and 25% (twenty-five percent) for non-management Crew Members. For a Crew Member to be eligible member must be full-time and must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours per week on a regular and consistent basis. CREW MEMBER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
From time-to-time, virtually everyone can use support in managing their personal and work life. To assist you in these efforts we partner with Life Solutions, an affiliate of UPMC, to provide you with a Crew Member Assistance Program (“CMAP”). The assistance received from the CMAP is confidential and there is no cost to Crew Members for using these services. The CMAP provides our Crew Members with complete resources to address a wide variety of personal and family needs. Counselors are available twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week
PAID TIME OFF
Slice Crew believes it is beneficial to Crew Members and Slice Crew that Crew Members take time off so that they will remain productive and enthusiastic while at work in addition to having paid sick days available. Slice Crew provides flexibility and choices to Crew Members to take time off through Paid Time Off (“PTO”). PTO is available for use throughout the year, instead of providing separate time off for sick, vacation, personal reasons, and other purposes. Subject to the requirements of this Policy, you may use your PTO for any purpose, including for vacation, illness, personal reasons, appointments, school, and any other activity of the Crew Member’s choice

Crew Members may purchase pizza and other food products at any participating Slice on Broadway pizza shop, for personal use, at a discounted rate of twenty-five (25%) percent off the retail price
