Job Summary:

The Kitchen Garcon de Cuisine at Coopershill has an official title of Garcon de Cuisine, which is the job title used in a traditional kitchen brigade system. The Garcon de Cuisine at Coopershill is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, assisting with bar preparation, and performing light maintenance tasks for both the kitchen and bar areas. This role requires more advanced cleaning duties, organizing bar supplies, and ensuring that the bar is well-prepped for service. The Garcon de Cuisine helps with bar-related tasks such as stocking, ingredient prep, and assisting bartenders, while also supporting the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Cleaning Duties: Perform deep cleaning of both kitchen, dining room and bar areas, including equipment, surfaces, and floors. Ensure cleanliness and sanitation are maintained at all times in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Bar Prep & Stocking: Assist with preparing the bar for service, including stocking glassware, ice, mixers, garnishes, and beverages. Ensure the bar is fully prepped for busy periods by organizing all necessary supplies.
  • Ingredient Preparation: Help with preparing bar ingredients such as cutting garnishes (lemons, limes, etc.), making simple syrups, and organizing fruits and other items used by bartenders.
  • Dishwashing: Clean and sanitize glassware, utensils, and bar tools as needed, ensuring timely turnaround for bar and kitchen staff. Operate dishwashing equipment and hand-wash items when required.
  • Bar Area Maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain the bar area, including countertops, bar tools, and refrigerators. Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring a clean environment for bar staff and customers.
  • Assisting with Deliveries: Receive and organize bar and kitchen supplies, checking inventory and ensuring proper storage of all items. Ensure stock rotation to maintain freshness of ingredients and beverages.
  • Supporting Bar Staff: Provide general support to bartenders during busy service hours, including restocking supplies, running glassware, and assisting with customer needs as directed by the Bar Manager.
  • Light Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks, including cleaning and troubleshooting minor equipment issues in the bar and kitchen areas. Report any major issues to the Kitchen Manager or Bar Manager.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all cleaning and bar prep work follows food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintain a clean and hazard-free bar and kitchen environment.
Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 1-2 years of experience in a kitchen or bar environment.
    • Experience with bar prep or working in a bar setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Basic understanding of bar equipment, glassware, and drink preparation.
    • Knowledge of food and beverage safety regulations.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
    • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and bar environment, handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Food handler’s certification or responsible alcohol service certification preferred but not required.
  • Personality: Dependable, proactive, and detail-oriented. A team player with a positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.
Working Conditions:

The Garcon de Cuisine will work in both the kitchen and bar areas, often during peak hours. The role involves physical tasks such as stocking, cleaning, and maintaining equipment. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required. Exposure to heat, cleaning chemicals, and alcohol is part of the work environment.
Compensation: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
