River and Post is the flagship location of the River Restaurant Group, proudly serving the Riverside neighborhood of Jacksonville since 2017. Position Summary:
The General Manager is the operational and cultural leader of River and Post. This role requires a hands-on manager who can drive sales, lead a large team with integrity, foster strong community relationships, and maintain our commitment to high standards in food, service, and hospitality. The GM will work closely with the home office team and Executive Chef to deliver consistent results in guest satisfaction, employee performance, and financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the restaurant and rooftop bar
Lead, coach, and mentor all front-of-house managers and staff
Develop and maintain high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and execution
Collaborate with Executive Chef and bar team on menu updates, promotions, and quality control
Manage financial performance including labor, COGS, P&L oversight, and budgeting
Drive top-line sales through local marketing initiatives, partnerships, and special events
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing requirements
Champion team culture and staff retention through training, feedback, and recognition
Act as a liaison with the River Restaurant Group leadership on strategic initiatives
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years experience as a General Manager in a full-service, high-volume restaurant
Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams of 50+ employees
Strong understanding of restaurant financials, inventory systems, and scheduling tools
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Guest-first mindset with a drive for service excellence
Familiarity with Jacksonville’s dining scene is a plus
Passion for hospitality, food, and community
